New locomotive pulls 7,100 t
Sinara and the Russian Railways (RZD) have agreed on supplying 2TE5A mainline freight two-sectioned diesel locomotives with asynchronous traction drive.
The agreement envisages the production and delivery of 200 2TE35A diesel locomotives by 2031 and the construction of servicing infrastructure in the area of operation, which is the Far East and East Siberian Railways. Serial production of 2TE35A will take place at the Ural Locomotives plant.
The 2TE35A two-sectioned 16-axle mainline freight diesel locomotive is a completely new model, Sinara said. With the TAD430 asynchronous traction engine installed on the locomotive, the 2TE35A will be able to drive heavy trains weighing up to 7,100 t.
