New intermodal terminal opened in Canada
Canada’s first privately operated intermodal Terminal has been opened in Saskatchewan. The 129,499 sqm East Regina intermodal terminal is located in the Chuka Creek business park and connects Southern Saskatchewan to global markets.
The new hub is owned and operated by Saskatchewan’s biggest short line railroad Mobilgrain. The terminal is served by Canadian National Railways (CN) and offers direct rail/truck transfer.
Furthermore, the facility includes two rail-mounted cantilever gantry cranes, storage capacity of 2,000 teu, space to handle 120 chassis and two separate in/out lanes for fluidity, according to CN. (ben)
