New intermodal hub fully operational in August
The partnership between Union Pacific (UP) and the refrigerated carrier Tiger Cool Express is bearing fruit with the planned launch of a new temperature-controlled intermodal rail service in eastern Washington.
Last December, the US class I railway leased to Tiger Cool Express its 2,711,000 sqm facility in Wallula, Washington. The property includes a refrigerated warehouse, enclosed refrigerated rail and truck docks, and a 3.2 km rail loop track. Now, Tiger is upgrading the facility, which has been renamed Tiger Tri-Cities Logistics Centre.
The hub is scheduled to be fully operational in August 2023, offering intermodal services primary for the agriculture sector. By 2024, the site is expected to process more than 22,000 container shipments per year. (ben)
