New interim president for the Port of Santos
Brazil's ministry of infrastructure has replaced the president of the Santos Port Authority (SPA). The former president Casemiro Tércio Carvalho resigned last week. No reasons were disclosed.
As interim president, Fernando Biral will now take over the helm at Latin America's largest port. Biral's previous position at the port authority was head of administration and finance. "With Biral's appointment, we want to implement the federal government's policy which envisages a professionalisation and redesign of the port sector," said infrastructure minister Tarcísio Gomes de Freitas.
Biral has an MBA and specialises in finance. He has been working for SPA for a year. Before that, he served as director and head of finance in various companies of the financial sector. (mw)
