New interim director of FOT
Martin von Känel will assume the role of interim director of the Swiss Federal Office of Transport (FOT) today, 1 April. He’s been a deputy-director since December 2023 and until most recently led the financing division.
Prior to joining FOT, von Känel was CEO of Martigny et Régions (TMR) for ten years and chaired the RailPlus alliance for metre-gauge railways.
With many years of management experience and a strong network in Swiss transport policy and public transport, he brings key expertise to the FOT leadership. He succeeds Gery Balmer, who was appointed president of the Swiss Safety Investigation Board (Sust) in November 2024. (ah)
