New Indian Greenfield Airport in 2023
Airports Authority of India is currently building the New Greenfield Airport in Rajkot, the fourth largest city in the state of Gujarat, to serve a growing population and manage the increasing flow of air traffic in this region.
The new airport, spread over 1,025 hectares, is located approximately 30 kms from Rajkot city, which has become an important hub in complex global supply chains.
Situated on Rajkot-Ahmadabad highway, this airport will reduce time and logistics costs for multiple industries in the region. With its 3,040 m long runway, it will be able to serve A321 aircraft and the apron will be suitable for parking 14 aircraft. Runway and other pavement works along with more than 95% of earth works have been completed. The airport is set to be ready for operations by December 2023. (cj)
