New hub for La Poste
The French post office La Poste has opened a new location in the heart of France. The parcel-sorting hub in Seine-et-Marne, in the Île-de-France, is the fifth and largest of the company’s new facilities. It follows hubs in Isère, Pas-de-Calais, Var and Val-d’Oise.
The gateway, which is part of an overall investment plan of EUR 450 million started in 2016, opened at the end of April 2021. With a surface area of 23,000 sqm it will be able to process 37,000 parcels an hour. The company has invested EUR 41 million in the new hub in Île-de-France Sud.
The first quarter of 2021 saw a 50% increase in parcel volumes in the country, with 2 million parcels sent every day in France. (sh)
