New harbour cranes to serve Florida’s trade hub

Seaport Manatee has enhanced its cargo-handling capacity with the arrival of two Konecranes Gottwald Generation 6 mobile harbour cranes, bringing its fleet to seven. Delivered from Antwerp aboard the “M/V Plantijngracht”, these eco-efficient cranes, capable of tandem lifting over 200 t, will enter service in January 2025. This addition supports record cargo volumes, with over 11.8 million t handled in the fiscal year ending 30 September.

Located near the Panama Canal, Seaport Manatee is a key trade hub for southwest and central Florida, contributing USD 7.3 billion annually to the economy and sustaining 42,000 jobs.

The cranes feature advanced energy-efficient technologies and are part of the port's strategic focus on meeting growing consumer and industrial demands. With ten deep-draft berths, the port is well-positioned to serve diverse cargo needs while maintaining robust connectivity to regional distribution hubs. (pb)
