New faces on DB Cargo board
DB Cargo is reorganizing its 6-strong board of directors. In future 50% of its members will be women (i.e. three in all). The team, led by the German freight railway’s CEO Sigrid Nikutta, will consist of newcomer Martina Niemann and chief human resources officer, Ursula Biernert, whose contract has been extended for a further five years.
Niemann returns to DB Cargo and thus to its parent Deutsche Bahn, as chief financial and controlling officer. Niemann, who was most recently employed by Lufthansa, will take over Matthias Reichel's finance department on 1 July. The latter will shoulder other tasks within the group. Thorsten Dieter was also appointed as the DB Cargo board member. He will head up the new offer management board from 1 May.
Last board member is Ralf-Günter Kloss who will become the new production director, also on 1 May. Marek Staszek is leaving the board and will resume the position of CEO of DB Cargo Polska. Pierre Timmermans will continue his work as director of sales at DB Cargo. (mw)
