New EU regulations for Switzerland
New EU regulations for civil aviation come into effect in Switzerland today, 1 July 2020, as the mixed EU/Switzerland air transport committee agreed last month.
The regulations, which, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, temporarily ease financial requirements for certain actors in the aviation industry and also relax other rules concerning flight and aviation security, will be incorporated in the annexe of the bilateral air services agreement.
Under existing legislation, airlines had to have the resources to meet their financial obligations for the following twelve months. Now this requirement has been temporarily relaxed, provided flight security is not jeopardised. Another easing of regulations is also planned for the terms of contracts for ground handling services.
