New electric harbour cranes for PD Ports
PD Ports, a British company on track to be carbon neutral by 2027, welcomed two new electric harbour cranes from Liebherr cranes at Tees Dock. The GBP 8.6 million investment recognises Teesport as a hub for bulk commodities.
Frans Calje, CEO at PD Ports: “We recognise our responsibility to ourselves, our communities and our customers to reduce environmental impact which is why we have set such ambitious decarbonisation targets.”
The harbour cranes are 83 m tall and, operated with electric-hydraulic power, they offer a more environmentally conscious and efficient solution. PD Ports has the ambition to become the UK’s most sustainable port operator. (lh)
