New digital release process for German seaports
The logistics IT and software providers Dakosy and DBH are launching a new digital authorisation process for container imports through German seaports.
The "secure release order" system is set to replace the current PIN-based method by the second half of this year, enhancing security against drug importation and organised crime. This digital transition ensures that permission to access containers can only be transferred between authorised parties and creates a clear, trackable chain of custody from the time the container arrives at the port until it is picked up by the transport company.
This process involves key stakeholders including shipping companies, terminal operators, freight forwarders, and transport companies, all interacting through the "German Ports" IT platform, which Dakosy and DBH jointly operate.
The platform integrates truck slot booking and driver registration, linking the right to pick up a container with a pre-notification of the transport and the truck driver’s identity, thereby significantly improving the security of import processing. (pb)
