New connection from Turku
A new ro-ro connection has been established between the port of Turku and the port of Rotterdam. The route between the Finnish and the Dutch port will be operated by “M/S ML Freyja”, which was built in 2017. The vessel is more than 191 m long and has a gross tonnage of more than 24,000 GT.
Thanks to its 7 m high main deck the ship is suited to a number of cargoes besides cars and boats, such as trailers, containers, various machinery, including crawler-mounted equipment. The ship has 3,500 lane metres of cargo space.
“M/S ML Freyja” will also continue on its present route, which includes Bremerhaven and Cuxhaven in Germany, Harwich in England and Paldiski in Estonia. All those ports will remain on the route, and a call in Rotterdam will be added as of 17 January 2020. Therefore, the new rotation will be Turku–Bremerhaven–Harwich–Rotterdam–Cuxhaven–Paldiski–Turku.
