New Cologne–Bologna train
TX Logistik is expanding its railfreight services to Italy. On 11 January 2021 the Mercitalia Group company, which specialises in pan-European transport services, will launch its first intermodal link between Cologne (Germany) and Bologna (Italy) with five round trips a week.
The route runs from the Cologne North terminal via the Gotthard axis in Switzerland to the Interporto Bologna terminal. Thanks to the freight village’s central location in the heart of Italy, the Emilia Romagna region as well as the seaports on the Adriatic and Tyrrhenian Sea can easily be reached from Bologna.
Up to 34 units fit on one train. Semi-trailers (P400s), mega-trailers, swap bodies and containers loaded with all kinds of goods are transported in both directions. (ben)
