New CAX service from ZIM
The Israeli carrier ZIM, which is headquartered in Haifa, is entering the Australian market with a service linking China and Australia. The new option, called the China Australia Express (CAX), will offer an eleven-day transit time from South China to Sydney.
It will see six vessels with a capacity of 2,500 teu each deployed, all also equipped with reefer plugs. The loop will be launched in mid-October, with the port rotation starting in Ningbo and continuing to Shanghai, Yantian, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane before returning to Ningbo.
Since perishables are amongst the goods ZIM is striving to carry more of, the carrier recently introduced a fleet of “advanced new reefer units, all fitted with the ‘ZIMonitor’ system for constant surveying and damage prevention." (mw)
