New Caledonia in transition

Gipanc, which manages the island of New Caledonia’s port and airport IT systems, has taken the next step in its cooperation with Marseille-based MGI. New Caledonia’s port community now has implemented the Ci5 port community system developed by MGI with all the available import and export functions.

On 2 November 2021, MGI announced the first ship call in Nouméa to be processed using Ci5. The first export ship call on the new system followed on 15 March 2022. Now all shipping activity entering and leaving New Caledonia is processed in Ci5.

While the first phase of the shift from AP+ to Ci5 began in May 2021, the second phase and finalisation of the project took place in March 2022. 84 people, including shipping agents, freight forwarders, cargo handlers and customs officials, were trained to use the new system in five days. (sh)
