New block train runs between China and Russia
Russia’s Rail Cargo Logistics has started to ferry containers from Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu Province in eastern China, through Mongolia to the Vorsino terminal in the Kaluga region in Russia. The first test train with 44 40-foot containers recently completed a successful maiden voyage on this route.
The journey took 15 days. The train carried electronic products and consumer goods. According to Rail Cargo Logistics – RUS, which belongs to the Austrian ÖBB group, the next block trains on this new connection will be despatched in the middle and the end of February.
The company plans to offer weekly trains from March 2020, which will then carry not only containers but general cargo as well. (ben)
