New berth inaugurated in Koper
A new ro-ro berth, which was completed just few weeks ago, has been inaugurated in the Adriatic Port of Koper. The event was attended by Slovenia’s minister of infrastructure Jernej Vrtovec. The new berth will primarily serve the car terminal, since it is located near the storing areas for vehicles.
Another recent investment in the port’s automotive segment involved the laying of a new set of railway tracks for car handling, which was opened in February. Currently, a new garage for 6,000 units is being built. It should be completed in the first quarter of 2021.
The berth can accommodate vessels from 100 m to 240 m of length, while the depth alongside is 10 m. The total cost of the investment was EUR 6 million, a part of which was financed by funds drawn from the EU project Caresmatic. (mw)
