New agent for Brazil-Africa services
The Madrid (Spain)-headquartered Marguisa Shipping Lines, the shipping company of the Sea & Ports group, has appointed Wasa Projects & Chartering as its general agent in Brazil as of January 2021. This is part of the company's strategy of full container services managed with its own fleet and followed by the existing express and exclusive ro-ro services to West Africa.
The liner is active in a number of West African ports but mainly in Equatorial Guinea, Sao Tomé & Principe, Douala, Cotonou and Lomé. Marguisa Shipping Lines runs full container weekly services with its own fleet of ships from the main worldwide ports.
“We are already present in Brazil through our ro-ro service to West Africa and with SOC (our own containers) via feeder services with transhipment in Tangier (Morocco) and Algeciras (Spain) to the above-named African ports,” said Andrés Cadenas, head of sales and marketing at Marguisa.
Tangier and Algeciras will indeed be the connecting ports for the Brazilian export cargoes, confirms Gilberto Lima, managing director of Wasa Projects. (cd)
