New 13,100 teu vessel joins Wan Hai fleet
Wan Hai Lines held a naming ceremony for its new 13,100 teu containership, “Wan Hai A16”, at Samsung Heavy Industries' Geoje shipyard on 5 June. The vessel, christened by Ms. Chueh Yao Guey-Ling, the wife of Mr. Chueh Meng-Chang from Far Eastern New Century Corporation, is the ninth in a series of ships designed for energy efficiency and equipped with advanced smart ship technology.
This series of containerships has a length overall of 335 mm, a breadth of 51 mm, a draft of 16 mm and a maximum cruising speed of 22 knots. The vessels are equipped with newly designed engines with eco-friendly features aimed at achieving energy-saving and fuel-efficient advantages.
“Wan Hai A16” will be delivered in mid-June and deployed on the Asia to West Coast of North America service. The ceremony also featured a charity donation to the Daon-Child Care Centre. (pb)
