Netherlands: get ready for Brexit
The Dutch ports carried out a Brexit action day on 1 December 2020 and distributed flyers to truck drivers that transport cargo to and from the British ports.
The joint action was intended to remind drivers and their employers and customers of the changes that will occur in the Dutch ports when the UK leaves the European Union on 1 January 2021.
From that date onward, customs documents must always be pre-announced digitally at the shortsea and ferry terminals through Portbase's port community system. Failure to do so will mean that the driver will be denied access to the terminals. This procedure applies to all ferry and shortsea terminals.
The aim is to ensure that freight continues to pass smoothly through Dutch ports even after the Brexit transition period expires on 31 December 2020. (ben)
