National action plan for eco-friendly shipping
The German federal ministry for digital and transport (BMDV) and the federal ministry for economic affairs and climate action (BMWK) have initiated the development of the ‘national action plan for climate-friendly shipping’. It involves close collaboration with representatives from the maritime sector, industry, science, energy providers, financial institutions, and public administration.
The aim is to create a strategic roadmap to achieve ambitious climate protection goals for shipping at national, European, and international levels while boosting the maritime economy's innovation and value creation.
Key focus areas include alternative propulsion and energy systems, supply of climate-friendly energy carriers, fleet modernisation, maritime industrial policy, and green shipping corridors. The outcomes will be presented at the upcoming national maritime conference. (pb)
