Mutual recognition of AEO status
The Swiss Federal Council has approved the agreement with UK on the mutual recognition of authorised economic operator (AEO) status.
The agreement is intended to reduce technical barriers to trade and facilitate commerce with UK for companies that are considered particularly trustworthy, which is why they enjoy privileges with respect to security-related customs controls and can take advantage of customs clearance simplifications.
The transition period under the withdrawal agreement between UK and the European Union expired on 31 December 2020. Therefore, UK, like other third countries, is obliged to present an advance summary declaration for all goods.
The agreement has yet to be ratified by UK. (amh)
