Multipurpose wharf to replace obsolete pier
Port Canaveral is making progress on a USD 39 million renovation project for North Cargo Berth 4 (NCB4), aiming to complete it by this autumn. The project involves replacing an outdated pier with a 300 m long multi-purpose wharf, next to the newly rebuilt North Cargo Berth 3 (NCB3), which became operational in June 2023.
The renovation includes installing nearly 400 concrete piles and creating a secure area for tying down mobile harbour cranes during severe weather. The upgraded berth will accommodate a variety of vessels and cargo operations.
This project is part of port Canaveral's five-year capital improvement plan, focusing on modern, resilient infrastructure to maintain its competitive edge and support central Florida's economic growth. (pb)
