Multiple records for Canadian railways
The two biggest Canadian Railways CN and Canadian Pacific CP have both reached a new high of grain transportations.
CN achieved another monthly record in June, when it shipped 2.7 million t of Canadian grain. Furthermore, CN carried 15 million t in the first half of 2020 until 30 June. This also includes a new all-time best quarter with a throughput of 8.15 million t, Canadian Railways said.
Canadian Pacific has also recorded its best-ever quarter and June in the same product segment by moving 8.41 million t of Canadian grain and grain products in Q2/2020 and exceeding the previous record of 7.9 million t in Q1/2019. In June 2020, CP moved 2.76 million t of Canadian grain and grain products, well above the previous June record of 2.4 million t set in 2014, CP said. (ben)
