Multiple factors driving decarbonisation
It is not just legislation that is driving change on carbon emissions, but client pressure and internal initiatives are also increasingly significant factors, as an industry survey conducted by the British International Freight Association (Bifa) has revealed.
The conclusions of the report can be summarised as indicating that more and more Bifa members are becoming aware of the importance of measuring carbon emissions resulting from the shipment of freight.
The results showed that for 69.05% of the respondents, calculating emissions was playing some sort of role within their day-to-day activities, whilst for 15.48% it was deeply rooted in the running of the ir businesses. The findings also show that the use of IT systems is key to the recording and reporting of carbon emissions. (ben)
