Multimodality wins the prize
Annually, the Austrian Logistics Network Association (VNL) awards the Austrian Logistics Prize to the most innovative logistics project of the year. The rail logistics company ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) and Transporeon, a transport management platform, won over the expert jury at this year’s comprehensive hearing.
As part of their collaboration, the companies seamlessly integrated multimodal transport into the platform, a premiere for Europe’s logistics sector. Tracking information about multimodal and rail shipments is displayed in the same user interface in which the shipper receives real-time information about road shipments. In addition, manually entered status data is replaced by sensor-based real-time data. The first trials with pilot customers such as Nestle and Vöslauer show that the concept works. (cj)
