Multi-user facility to open in Shanghai
Geodis has signed a ten-year lease agreement with the PRD Group for a 20,000 sqm multi-user facility in Minhang district, Shanghai (China). The facility is set to bolster the company's contract logistics capabilities for retail partners and to support the e-commerce industry that is expected to be worth USD 2 trillion in the Asia-Pacific region by 2025.
The new facility is slated to open in July and will include a modern storage system with mezzanine flooring, very-narrow-aisle pallet racks, and racking served by autonomous guided vehicles, Geodis said.
The facility will provide the space needed to support large merchandise inventory and inbound and outbound procedures. At peak capacity, the site will be able to manage an inventory of close to 20,000 stock-keeping units. This will include space to process 300,000 lines a day for B2C customers, in addition to 15,000 lines for B2B clientele. (ben)
