MSCAA family mourns Larry Cox
The Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority (MSCAA) family is deeply saddened by the passing of its former president and CEO Larry Cox. He spent 41 years at MSCAA, 29 of those years as the president and CEO during a time when MEM emerged as both a major commercial and cargo airport.
Cox served as chairman of the board of directors for the Greater Memphis Chamber and chairman of the Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau (now Memphis Tourism).
He received the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA’s) Kitty Hawk Award in 1996 and AAAE's Distinguished Service Award in 2001. In addition, he was honoured with the FedEx Bravo Zulu Award in 2004 and inducted into the Tennessee Aviation Hall of Fame in 2005. Cox was also a veteran of the US Air Force.
In remembrance, the family has asked that any charitable donations be made to the University of Memphis Larry Cox Scholarship Fund. (cj)
