MSC linking USA and Sweden
MSC is launching a new service that will link the Baltic Sea with USA. The new line will have the following port rotation: Klaipeda - Gdynia - Gothenburg - Bremerhaven - New York - Philadelphia - Norfolk - Klaipeda.
The first loop will be operated by the vessel “MSC Cornelia”. The first call on the loop departs from the APM Terminals container terminal in the Port of Gothenburg on 31 March and will reach New York eleven days later. The loop then continues through Philadelphia and Norfolk, after which the vessel will return to Scandinavia and the Baltics with American goods.
USA is Sweden's third largest export market, after Norway and Germany. In 2021, goods worth approximately EUR 13 billion were exported to the United States (a 14% increase compared to 2020). In return, Sweden's goods imports from USA are worth EUR 500 million. (sh)
