Mou for ICS, LROO, Marina
The International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), Lloyd’s Register One Ocean (LROO) and the Philippines’ Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) have signed a memorandum of understanding to explore digital seafarer certification.
The companies will collaborate in a pilot project that aims to integrate certification systems, which will ensure real-time verification and reduce administrative tasks. The goals of the initiative are in line with recent amendments to the ‘standards of training, certification and watchkeeping for seafarers’ (STCW). It will also improve data security and accessibility for seafarers, flag administrations and port authorities.
The project will evaluate the feasibility of linking Marina’s ‘Integrated Seafarers Management Online System’ (Mismo) to the pilot. (js)
