Moscow pushes Chinese connections forward
Sheremetyevo International Airport (SVO) and Moscow Cargo, with the support of the Russian ministry of industry and trade, recently presented their cargo hub to their Chinese partners as a part of a strategy to develop Russian-Chinese cooperation in the field of air transport.
A visit to the modern cargo complex with automated cargo handling and storage systems was organised for the participants, during which the guests were introduced to the new terminal’s technical capacity.
China is a significant strategic partner for Russia. In 2018, the bilateral trade turnover rose by 28%, beating a record-high USD 100 billion. The import of goods from China to SVO, Europe’s only airport to serve eight Chinese airlines, soared over 40%, while exports saw a 20% increase. (ah)
