More vehicle rest areas for Australian truckies
The Australian government is delivering a AUD 80m (EUR 52m) commitment to new and refreshed rest areas for truck drivers and brings the total commitment for heavy vehicle rest areas to AUD 140 million (EUR 90 million).
The budget will include upgrades to freight routes heavily used by truck drivers across the country – from the Bruce Highway in Queensland, through to the Bass Highway in Tasmania.
In delivering the rest area programme, the government will be working with truck drivers and industry experts to provide a suite of heavy vehicle rest areas across the country. Truck drivers will be at the table, providing their expert advice for the targeted rest area projects, the government said. (ben)
