More trains to and from Hungary
The German railfreight operator Helrom has launched a new route linking Düsseldorf (Germany) and Budapest (Hungary), thus extending the range of sustainable and barrier-free intermodal freight transport in Europe. The new service along the 1,200 km route reduces CO₂ emissions by up to 90%, Helrom said.
The connection is operated as an open train service, where fixed contingents can be booked as required. The terminal-free loading of Helrom trains also enables companies to shift all types of truck trailers to rail without additional investment in their fleets. Daily departures are planned in both directions on six days a week. Each train transports 36 trailers, corresponding to a weekly capacity of 432 truck trailers. (ben)
