More trains on the Basel – Antwerp corridor
The Swiss railfreight operator, Schweizerzug, is raising the number of services and capacity between Frenkendorf, near Basel (Switzerland) and the port of Antwerp (Belgium) from three to four round trips per week, from 2 February 2019.
The company’s trains run to the Antwerp Gateway 1700 terminal operated by DP World. All terminals within the port of Antwerp are served from that gateway.
In addition to the direct links to Antwerp, Schweizerzug also connects the ports of Antwerp and Rotterdam via the Neuss hub in Germany. From Neuss, both ports can be accessed by either inland waterway or rail.
The company also offers daily connections between Frenkendorf and Niederglatt, near Zurich. (ben)
