More trains link up the Western Ports
Swissterminal is expanding. On 1 January 2023 the logistics firm is adding three new direct rail connections between Switzerland and Rotterdam, in the Netherlands (Rotterdam World Gateway, RWG). At the same time Swissterminal is upping the frequency of its trains to Antwerp (Belgium) to four round trips a week.
The rail link, called Schweizerzug, will thus now shuttle containers twelve times a week between Europe’s Western Range and Frenkendorf, near Basel, and Niederglatt, near Zurich.
Swissterminal will team up with its partner DP World to run lorry transfers from the Rotterdam World Gateway and the Antwerp Gateway to the other deep-sea terminals in the two port cities. The services include handling first and last mile goods transport in Switzerland, if required. (ben)
