More than 6 million teu in Mumbai
Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) registered its highest ever throughput of 6.05 million teu in 2022-23. India’s largest container port located in Mumbai had crossed 6 million teu on 30 March 2023. During the corresponding period last year, JNPA handled 5.68 million teu, which was also a record then.
Since its inception in 1989, JNPA has transformed from a bulk-cargo terminal to become the premier container port in the country. Currently it operates five container terminals.
Out of this financial year's total, 1,714,246 teu were handled at BMCT, 1,096,954 teu at NSICT, 1,846,920 teu at APMT, 1,137,034 teu at NSIGT, 205,907 teu at JNPCT and 49,707 teu at NSFT.
