More service for Western-built aircraft in Moscow
Aeroflot has put into operation a new 15,000 sqm hangar in the Northern Terminal Complex of Moscow SVO. All types of Western- and Russian-built aircraft will be serviced there - simultaneously a wide-body aircraft (for instance, B777 or A330) and two SSJ100s.
The Russian flag carrier has just resumed taking delivery of Western-built units, with the 20th of 22 firmly ordered B777-300ER joining its fleet on 15 February. The 21st is expected to arrive next month.
Boeing Russia and CIS President Sergei Kravchenko: "The new B777-300ER of Aeroflot will be named after the founder of practical cosmonautics Sergei Korolev [12 April 1951], it’s meaningful to us. Since 1992, Boeing has been a strategic partner of 'Energia' named after Korolev in a number of aerospace programmes." (ah)
