More safety in combined transport
In combined transport, special care is required when loading semi-trailers onto pocket wagons. Swiss start-up Nexxiot and VTG have now joined forces to take the issue of safety to the next level: the German wagon leasing company is testing Nexxiot's Kingpin Monitor, a completely maintenance-free sensor solution for monitoring the loading of semi-trailers onto pocket wagons, in a field trial.
The sensors are currently being tested on 70 double pocket wagons under real operating conditions. After successful completion of the test series and confirmation that the technology adds significant value to the supply chain, it is planned to equip the double pocket wagon fleet with the sensor from November 2021. The rollout is scheduled to be completed in 2022. (ben)
