More rail links to south-east Europe

Swiss intermodal operator Hupac has launched a new shuttle train linking RTC Geleen in the Netherlands with Wels CT and WienCont in Austria to meet increasing demand for intermodal connections from/to south-east Europe.

Initially, the train will run in two roundtrips per week. The service guarantees a fast A/B transit time and ongoing connections to Hungary (Budapest Chapel), Turkey (Halkali), Romania (Ploiesti) and Bulgaria (Stara Zagora).

With this rail link, a single consignment travelling on the 1,000 km distance between Geleen and Vienna will reduce CO2 emissions by an average 1.4 t. (ben)
