More rail assets in Pacific Northwest

BNSF Railways has started operating the new Tacoma south facility near Seattle, USA. The domestic intermodal facility, leased from partner Northwest Seaport Alliance (NWSA), will substantially improve capacity in the intermodal segment and accommodate more than 50,000 annual container lifts.

With the opening of the new hub, the US class I railway is also launching a direct container-only joint service between Tacoma and Chicago with forwarder J.B. Hunt.

BNSF already runs a domestic intermodal facility in Tukwila serving the NWSA’s Seattle harbour. The new Tacoma intermodal facility will bring additional key rail assets to the Pacific Northwest region. (ben)
