More parcel handling capacities for Amazon in Germany
Panattoni is developing distribution centres in Germany to create additional last-mile capacities for Amazon. In a first phase, the real estate developer will focus on projects in Kaltenkirchen (Schleswig-Holstein) and Knüllwald (Hessen). On a 93,000 sqm plot in Kaltenkirchen, Panattoni will set up a 12,000 sqm logistics area and 1,500 sqm of office space and social areas.
The second distribution centre will be built in Knüllwald, where Amazon has been operating on a Panattoni site since August 2019. Here, on an 81,000 sqm plot, the developer will build an 8,400 sqm logistics area as well as 1,500 sqm of office space and social facilities.
Amazon will use both hubs as parcel distribution centres for the last mile in the B2C segment. After the extension of these two delivery points, the goods delivered by the suppliers will be unloaded from the vehicles at gates on the side of the distribution centre. Awnings will protect drivers and cargo from bad weather. (mw)
