More options for road trains in NSW Australia
Road train operators can now access more than 900 km of additional road network, making it easier for producers and manufacturers to move freight across the state, according to the NSW ministry of regional transport in Australia.
These road trains can carry up to 25% more freight per trip than a 26 m B-double, which means larger loads and fewer trucks on the road while at the same time reducing freight costs for producers. To the additional road network, all Type 1 tandem-axle A-double road trains transporting any commodity, except livestock, will have full access.
The opening up of the network to road trains comes at an important time for grain producers, who are expecting a stronger harvest after years of drought. (ben)
