More non-stop connections to the south
With its new non-stop intermodal connection between Vienna (Austria) and Melzo (Italy), ÖBB Rail Cargo Group replaces the existing Vienna-Piadena service and expands its links to the south with two round trips per week.
According to the Austrian railfreight company, the link offers an ideal option to shift cargo from the roads to the railways. The Melzo terminal is situated in the Milan area, close to major traffic networks. The freight centre Wien Süd in Vienna offers links to Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and Slovakia.
From Melzo there are further connections to Bari, Ravenna, La Spezia in Italy as well as Lyon in France. The new intermodal connection is also equipped to carry dangerous goods. (ben)
