More movements but less volume
At the annual press conference held by the French airline association Union des Aéroports Français (UAF) a week ago today, on 13 March 2024, developments in the airfreight sector were only mentioned in passing - as they were before the pandemic.
With a volume of 2.244 million t in the home country and overseas, 3.1% less airfreight was handled in 2023 than in 2022. Compared to 2019, the shortfall is exactly 8%. With 1.882 million t, the airports CDG and ORY, which belong to Aéroports de Paris, reduced their shortfall to 2.2% compared to 2022 (2019: -6.6%).
Paris-Vatry (XCR) made the biggest leap in the Grand Est region: at 9,005 t, it handled half as much airfreight as in 2022, but 214% more than in 2019. However, at 62,482, France recorded 11.8% more full-freighter movements than in 2019. (ah)
