More mega-trucks in Spain
XPO Logistics has launched three new mega-truck routes in Spain connecting Bilbao with Valladolid and Madrid with Barcelona on a daily basis. The routes are integrated into XPO’s day and night LTL distribution network with the specific aim to expand service to companies in the omni-channel retail sector.
XPO is planning to launch a fourth mega-truck route this month to link Vigo with Valencia. Mega-trucks are 25.25 m long and can reduce carbon emissions by up to 20% per trip, compared with traditional trucks, by carrying 65% more cargo per trip.
XPO operates 25 mega-trucks in Spain on 15 routes that connect the main points of the company’s network of nearly 70 LTL sites. The company currently moves around 5.1 million pallets a year. (sh)
