More Maersk in Miami
A.P. Moller - Maersk expanded its airfreight operations footprint by launching a full-service, in-transit gateway solution in Miami last month. It is modelled after operations in Atlanta, Chicago, and Los Angeles and will focus on transhipping European and Asian cargo via Miami to Latin America.
Fully staffed by in-house Maersk airfreight forwarding professionals, the 8,000 sqm facility is expected to have significant southward flows and features key certifications, such as "customs bonded container freight station" and "certified cargo screening facility".
Fabio Acerbi, regional head of airfreight for Latin America: "Our Miami gateway offers an alternative routing option that can provide predictable transit times from our global network, improving connectivity, flexibility, and reliability." (ah)
