More hinterland connections for Kiel
More capacity and faster connections for eco-friendly rail transport: Since the beginning of September, five new train pairs have been running weekly from Kiel's seaport in Germany across the Alps to Verona in northern Italy via the Lehrte mega hub in Hanover.
In Lehrte, the cargo units also have connections to Duisburg, Munich and Ludwigshafen in Germany. The trains are operated by Kombiverkehr.
The five new train pairs have a length of 540 m approved for Alpine transit via the Brenner Pass and each has 20 wagons for the transport of 20 trailers and 20 containers up to 30 feet. (ben)
