More freight for Italy's railways
Schienen VTG has delivered the first 40 of 60 new wagons to Medway Italia in Bologna. The ultramodern, six-acle 80′ Sggrs(s) wagons were especially adapted to meet Medway’s needs and optimised for onward transport by sea – a novelty on the Italian market, VTG said.
Medway Italia and Medlog Italia, MSC’s logistics arm, have set the joint goal to build up a comprehensive and flexible rail network to further strengthen freight transport in Italy.
VTG is supplying around 200 railfreight wagons for the project. The cooperation is already starting to bear fruit: the first 30 roundtrips per week are already in operation. (ben)
