More contracts collared, but turnover shrinks
Green Cargo, a state-owned railfreight enterprise in Sweden, has posted its 2018 annual results. They were impacted by decreasing transport volumes, rising fixed costs and extreme weather conditions.
The 2018 turnover sank by 4% to SEK 4.21 billion (EUR 402 million). The operating loss amounted to SEK 122 million (minus EUR 11.6 million).
However, a press release issued by company, contained some positive news. The freight railway acquired new transport contracts for SEK 880 million (EUR 84 million) in the year under review.
Green Cargo signed new deals with, inter alia Scandfibre Logistics, Stena and Valsabinna. Furthermore, SSAB renewed its transport contract for the northern and southern steel shuttle service. (ben)
